Hi All, I've just bought a 2009 black Persona Gen-2. I'm based in N Ireland and it's a mystery to me and everyone I've shown it to...but I really like it. Due to it's age it has developed a few quirks and further to that it came with no manual, so I'm keen to suss this thing out. I look forward to trawling your posts.

Hi and welcome. I've had my 2009 car from new and even back then almost nobody knew what it was, even after being told. Example - 'Proton Persona? Is that a Ford?' was probably the most hilarious line uttered.
Don't let anyone tell you, (especially clueless motorfactors) that it's basically all old Mitsubishi, like the earlier Protons were.

Hi there, I thought the forum was dead! Thanks for your reply. My persona GLS has suddenly decided to not start today, the dash lights come on but it won't turn over, just get the click click click. Any ideas!

Reads as classic half-dead battery.

That's what I thought, there's a faulty door open sign that's always on, I wondered if that's enough it drain it overnight. Thanks for the reply. Fyi I've since learnt it's a persona GLS cm.

The door pin switches are notorious for failing. Usually they get stuck either on or off, but yesterday mine was working back to front. Interior light was coming on when I closed the door and going off when I opened it.
Replacement switches are cheap enough though.

Is that something I'd get online or could I pick one up in a car parts store? I'm no mechanic but up for a little bit of tinkering.

Probably not because nobody seems to know about Protons in the UK, or bother to stock the parts. I can order the parts from abroad though as I have contacts in Malaysia.

Also you cant just use a generic door switch will need to be from a proton Gen 2 or Neo and sided....
if its the drivers door pin switch you need a drivers door switch as the passenger wiring configueration is different .

Thanks for the replies, I'd be happy to just kill the notification light at this stage!
