Post Noooooooob
Hi, new here, got an r reg 1.3 compact as a stop gap after writing my Mazda off... Got the bug for it now though, reminds me of being 17 and ragging my h reg VW Polo GT around! Anyway, MOT is up in 2 months time and if Arthur (as my wife has named him after professor proton on the big bang theory) passes I will be keeping him and want to do a few things- basic tuning, wheels, suspension, brakes, maybe change the interior up. I only paid £100 and the shell/chassis seems solid enough so figured why not!! Just hunting around for ideas atm, someone said the other day you can fit Evo 1,2,3 parts such as engine, in all seriousness do they just bolt in or is there any serious work involved? Maybe long term, think it would be quite fun to go down a route like that and build something monstrous out of him, I saved him from being scrapped so might as well make a phoenix out of him!!

Welcome along. Glad you saved it. Evo stuff does go on easy enough. A couple thing need work. And if you want 4wd you need to cut up the boot floor. Full front end panels can be put on just need to cut and shut the wings as the door lines differ. Most people tend to go for the fwd 1.8 turbo out of the earlier lancer gsr. Which is. Straight swap or convert a proton 1.8
RIP Scott - We will never forget you

Hello and welcome. :D

Did someone mention Phoenix?

As supra has said 1.8 na or turbo would be a good starting point. Or even supercharged 1.8 as Dangti still has the bits I believe to make this happen. :D

Haha cheers guys, yeah I posted that then saw your username whilst browsing and lol'd a little at it wondering if it was a similar story. Hrrrrm, supercharged you say, that sounds right up my straße as I always really want a polo g40 (I'm an old school dubber at heart but know their limitations and the scene tax is horrendous) but they are silly money and dog unreliable, and would be quite funny to beat my brother's one

Rebuilt into different Proton's so phoenix suits lol.

Supercharged runs the mini eaton supercharger and inlet setup modified for the proton. Many moons ago supercharger setup was a optional extra from proton.

easiest way for an engine conversion is the 4G93 1800 16v from the GTi.

I know Michelle at Promitsi has a few engines, and a complete conversion kit available too.

Sweet, may chase up on some of these over winter if he passes MOT. Should do tbf, genuinely reckon he'll just want an ARB bush and a set of tyres, he's a tidy little runner although last week or so with the heat got a really high idle on start-up- 16/1700 rpm
