Post Proton Satria GTI 1.8 owner
I have owned a 2003 Proton Satria GTI 1.8 for 10+ years and use it occasionally (low miles on it 20K)
It has been a reliable car, but recently it ran at a rough idle & now will not start.
I had a look on the web for some information and thought the best thing to do was join the Proton (Satria) owners club and ask some of the experienced owners for some advice.
Work done so far with my trouble-shooting: Remove the fuel tank in order to inspect and check the fuel pump. The pump looks okay and the (tea-bag) filter looks clean, have applied 12 volts DC to the pump but it but it does not work.
I cannot identify where the fuel pump relay is therefore cannot check that item.

Any advice would be appreciated
Joseph

Applying 12v directly to the motor should definitely get it spinning. Fuel pumps are not a knows common cause of trouble on these though, and yours sounds like very low mileage.

Have applied 12 volts to the pump-motor and it will not turn. Will try to order up a replacement pump and see it that solves the problem.
Would like to know where the fuel pump 'relay' is on the Satria so that I can have it checked out.

I'm not sure if it has a relay. Pretty sure it doesn't on the Proton MPi. I think it is fed directly from one of the pins of the ECU. I am willing to be proved wrong though.

Hi,

I know this post is old and probably dead and buried!
But I could really do with a bit of a step-by-step guide of how to remove the fuel tank.
I am at risk of damaging a nut head, and if it isnt actually needed to come off to remove the tank, i wont bother
